First Class is the third year of primary school, and children in this class are typically aged between 6 and 7 years old. It is also the first year that children experience a full school day, which usually runs from 8:15 a.m. to 1:55 p.m.
In 1st Class, children engage in twelve curriculum subjects, delivered through a thematic approach that helps make learning meaningful and connected. The three core subjects — English, Irish, and Mathematics — are taught every day, laying a strong foundation for continued learning.
