Senior Infants is the second year of primary school. Children in Senior Infants are typically aged between 5 and 6 years old. Like Junior Infants, the school day is shorter than that of the senior classes, usually running from 8:15 – 12.55pm

Children follow the twelve curriculum subjects, with the inclusion of Aistear, an integrated learning programme based on learning through play. Each month, they explore a specific theme, which is woven into the various subject areas in a cross-curricular approach.

The three core subjects — English, Irish, and Mathematics — are taught every day to support essential skill development.
